Blog: Megg's Camping Adventures

Written by: || Tags:
Greetings readers! Today on the Club Penguin blog, our favourite moderator, Megg, talks to us about her camping adventures. It is an interesting read if I do say to myself, so feel free to see what she's been up to! Her blog post is below.
Hi Penguins!

Remember my last post about Floyd's Camping Adventures? I've been camping a few more times since then, and Trainman1405 had a great idea of sharing a few of my MISadventures haha.

Luckily, there weren't TOO many mishaps during my camping trips – but there was definitely one major one I can tell you about.

Whenever my family and I go camping, we usually bring a GIANT tarp to cover the campsite incase it rains (which it usually does). On our last trip, we brought a slightly smaller one thinking it would be easier to hang up... which was definitely NOT the case! It took us 3 tries to get the tarp hanging in the right place in order to cover our tents and the picnic table.

Attempt 1:

Tarp covered both tents, but left picnic table completely uncovered... which by this point it had started to rain, so of course that needed to be fixed.

Attempt 2:

We successfully managed to cover half the picnic table, and were too wet to care about covered the other half. This meant that 4 of us had to huddle to one side of the table to try and stay out of the rain. Well, mother nature wasn't done yet! It started to rain even harder and now water was pooling in the middle. Every couple minutes one person had to get up and push water to the edge so that the whole tarp wasn't dragged down.

Unfortunately for me, I was sitting closest to the edge of the tarp and the rope we had tied to one of the branches started to slip... before I knew it, I was in the middle of a mini waterfall as all the water that had gathered in the middle came rushing down over me. This of course caused me to scream at the top of my lungs! Now, I'm soaking wet, it's dark out, and the tarp needs to be fixed AGAIN (oh and I've probably woken up anyone sleeping with my scream).

Attempt 3:

In the pouring rain, we had to try adjusting the tarp so one side was higher to allow water to just run off one side. Which sounds easy enough, unless you're trying to untie and re-tie muddy wet rope in the dark! Thankfully we got it all sorted, and were able to cover a bit more of the picnic table.

The next morning, we ended up driving back into town and getting a screen tent to cover the picnic table. Which meant we actually had to adjust the tarp again... so that's 4 times we had to hang the tarp up before we finally got it right! Wowza.

So that was my misadventure story! Do you have a funny mishap story you'd like to share? Leave it in the comments below!

Waddle on,
