Chris Heatherly Stepping Down as CEO of Club Penguin

Written by: || Tags:

Christopher Heatherly, also known as Spike Hike in-game, has made a huge impact on Club Penguin's recent history, after he joined the team to fill in Lane Merrifield's (Billybob) place in late 2012. Four years on, he announced it's time for him to step down as general manager on Club Penguin. As of September 8, 2016, he is no longer the CEO of Club Penguin.

This morning, Spike Hike posted an update blog on the official Club Penguin blog, called Waddling On!

Introducing the post, he mentions "the time has come" for him to "waddle on to his next adventure," and so he is leaving Disney Interactive.

He adds, "Getting to spend time with you all in Club Penguin has been one of the true joys of my life, and it has been for my family too, as all three of my kids have grown up with you in the Penguin community." He goes on to thank us for many special memories, especially for our hard work and creativity over the years.

To sign off the post, he includes a huge Project: Super Secret sneak peek as a farewell gift to us all.

Although Spike only visited the Club Penguin offices in Kelowna for one week every month due to him living in L.A., he still made an unforgettable footprint in the inner-workings of Club Penguin and his time shared with Disney Interactive. He will be missed.

Fans of Club Penguin have taken to Twitter to express their gratitude towards Chris and the many years of work he has put into the game, and also the burden they feel of him leaving.

Two humbling tweets were made by Chris on his Club Penguin account, @SpikeHikeCP today, bidding us farewell and leaving an inspiring message.

For his final goodbyes, Spike Hike is hosting a small party on Club Penguin today, September 8 on Fog at 3:30PM Penguin Standard Time. He will also be checking in for anniversaries and of course, the release of Project: Super Secret.

Thank you for all you've done, Chris. Waddle on!
