Club Penguin New Year's Day 2016 Celebration

Written by: || Tags:
The New Year is fast approaching for citizens of the planet using the Gregorian calendar, meaning it is almost January 1, 2016! And for some of us in the future (I'm looking at you, New Zealand and Australia), it is 2016 already.

But the majority of you reading this are probably celebrating New Year's Eve, according to my website demographic. Club Penguin is also celebrating 2016's approach with a little party happening on the island. The two highest points of the island, the Ski Hill and the Iceberg, are showing their acknowledgement with a great firework display and a complimentary dance mat, for penguins who are wanting to bust some moves on while they are waiting for the brand new year.

How are you going to be celebrating New Year's Day 2016?

In the most recent issue of the Club Penguin Times newspaper—issue 532—editor Aunt Arctic posted an article named "Happy New Year!"

In the article, she talks about 2015 as a whole, and attempted to 'wrap up' the year with a few nice comments. Also included in the article were a few words from the Club Penguin mascots that she interviewed, in which they shared a few of their favourite memories from the past year.

Today, I would like to present Club Penguin's mascots sharing their best 2015 memories. Enjoy.

Here is a screencap from the newspaper story:

The 2015 Coins for Change Goal Has Been Reached

Written by: || Tags:

I am pleased to announce that Club Penguin's ninth annual Coins for Change charity has not only reached. but smashed it's all-time goal of ten billion (10,000,000,000) coins! Thanks to your donations, the ultimate goal has been achieved in just over 9 days. I think this is an amazing achievement, and the coins donated will be transferred into real money and go towards providing third-world medical help, building safe places and protecting the earth. Club Penguin will be making the $1 million dollar donation soon.

If you happen to log in today, you will see Rockhopper's thank-you message.

Shiver me timbers! You did a fantastic job with Coins for Change this year! We hit all our fundraising goals. Great work, me hearties.

As you can see from the interface, it is no longer possible to donate as the four goals have been reached with the grand ten billion coin total.

I am very proud that this has been achieved in such a short amount of time, and pleased that Disney will be donating so much money to help such wonderful causes. Waddle on!

Written by: || Tags:
It has been announced that, so far, we have raised a grand total of 9,183,166,300 coins for Coins for Change 2015... whoopee!

Megg from the Club Penguin Team has given us some tips on gaining more coins to donate:

* Decorate! The snowballs you throw at the tree in The Forest become decorations! How? Because HOLIDAY MAGIC, that's how!
 * Pitch! Take part in the Food Drive by the Beach. Wind your arm back and aim for the boxes. Just watch out or you might take a pizza to the face. Yum!!
 * Jingle! A well placed snowball is all you need to ring the bells at The Plaza. Hmm, now how do I play Jingle Bells?

Thanks, Megg! I can't wait to see the final results.

Club Penguin Blog: Community Toy Drive

Written by: || Tags:

Greetings, everyone!

Megg recently got together with a small group and help fund a toy drive, collecting various toys and donating them to families that cannot purchase gifts for their kids.

Megg states that she loves how the Holiday season can bring us all together and help us accomplish creative and incredible things such as a charity or a toy drive like this. The full blog post is displayed underneath.
Hi Penguins!

The Holiday season is one of my FAVORITE times of year. I love how it can bring people together to do incredible things -- like Coins for Change for example!

This year, a group of us volunteered our time to help at a community Toy Drive! Each year, charities in our community collect toys donated by people like you and me to help families that are unable to purchase gifts for their kids. Each toy and game is sorted by age group so parents have an easier time picking out the perfect gift for their child. Sounds pretty amazing right?

Here's a photo of our group so you can see just how generous the community is this time of year:

We had so much fun helping out, we might even make this a tradition on our team!

Do you volunteer in your community? I'd love to hear about it in the comments below :)

International Tea Day: Sensei's Journey

Written by: || Tags:
Today, December 15, is #InternationalTeaDay. People from all around the world are celebrating this glorious day by drinking tea and sharing interesting tea facts, talking about their funny tea-related anecdotes on their social media and other exciting things. It is a great day to celebrate one of the world's most famous drinks, that is consumed all around the world in various different cultures.

Earlier this year, it was International Coffee Day, and I made a tribute to the Coffee Shop on Club Penguin. Following in similar fashion, I believe it's due that I make something special for International Tea Day, which inspired me to create this post.

But, I was stumped. I thought: what on Club Penguin has any relation to tea... or perhaps, whom? Then it hit me. Sensei. Yes Sensei, the mascot who brought us the Club Penguin Ninjas and Card-Jitsu, is in fact a tea lover himself. So I thought I'd make a blog post about him. But specifically, how he got here.

Today ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Sensei's Journey.

Let's start out with the basics. Who is Sensei, you may ask? Well, Sensei, also known as The Sensei, is a grey-coloured penguin who was first seen in Club Penguin during the 2008 "Dig Out The Dojo" project, simply known as anonymous penguin, with his straw hat being titled down to cover his face, and his name only being presented as "??????". Mysterious. His identity was later revealed as a ninja master who had come to train penguins from all across the world into being black belt ninjas from mastering the art of Card-Jitsu. Fittingly enough, the word "sensei" is Japanese for teacher.

Dig Out The Dojo - 2008

Sensei is an ancient penguin. He wears a traditional Japanese straw hat, and has white bushy eyebrows and a long beard. He is often seen carrying a walking stick and wearing an old robe with sandals. When he was first spotted, he wore a brown coat, possibly to warm him from the cold weather, as he was working constantly in snowy weather, shoveling snow to create a path.

How did Sensei get here? Well, a long long time ago, Sensei was a regular penguin on the Island of Club Penguin, waddling around as usual, we can only assume this was pre-2005 due to his age. Sensei suddenly vanished to the wilderness, where he trained for many many years, mastering the elements of snow, water and fire. He developed a great interest in the power of them, and how it could be harnessed (this would later evolve, and is where the idea for Card-Jitsu would stem from). Sensei used to be good friends with Tusk, but, due to Tusk's jealously of Sensei's power, they became enemies. Sensei's walking stick is a tusk that he took from Tusk once he defeated him, and although they are now rivals, Sensei will be with him forever.

Sensei departed and went back to Club Penguin to teach the penguins of the island about Card-Jitsu. He built the Dojo atop a mountain, hidden from the island until 2005. The whole building was built by himself, and that is where he stayed. Until... a storm hit the Dojo, causing a huge sheet of snow to land on the area. Sensei was startled and started digging out the snow that had collapsed his building right away. Other penguins noticed and starting helping, which started the "Dig Out The Dojo" project.

Sensei digging during the project

Penguins noticed Sensei, and he revealed himself to them, mentioning he was a traveler that had returned from a long journey. A journey of martial arts and Card-Jitsu, of course.

To thank the penguins who helped him restore the Dojo back to its original use, he taught them Card-Jitsu, a brand new mini-game, and helped them train up the ranks from a white belt to a black belt then finally a Ninja. Yes, the long-kept secret from Club Penguin was finally brought to reality. Those who could successfully win a match of Card-Jitsu against Sensei himself were accepted to be Ninjas and they were rewarded with many abilities. Such as the ability to vanish and disguise themselves on the Island whilst wearing a ninja suit. Sensei has all of the cards in Card-Jitsu and can only be battled and defeated by a black belt master so they can rank up to become a true Ninja.

In May 2013, his old friend-turned-enemy, Tusk, returned, plotted to avenge his defeat. He rallied up a snowman army which he gathered once he came out of his snow cave that he was forced in from the battle with Sensei, and vowed to master the element of snow in order to destroy Sensei's work that he felt so strongly towards. Tusk sent Tank, Scrap and Sly to attack Sensei, but we - the Ninjas and Sensei - were too strong in numbers for them and withstood the attack in the new game Card-Jitsu: Snow.

Tusk has disappeared after he mentioned that he has more power than Sensei and all of the Ninjas. He turned into a shadowy spirit and vanished, never to be seen again. It is unclear where he has gone, but we are safe from him, knowing that he got what he came for, supposedly.

Sensei is now a full-time mascot, constantly training those who are willing to master Card-Jitsu, and often retreats to land to meet penguins and tell them about his journey. He often visits during parties to meet us all. He was always around during the Card-Jitsu parties which he created, and is always humble to meet us. Penguins flee from everywhere to visit him, and are awed in his presence and love the stories he has to tell.
