Club Penguin Blog: Puffle Spotlight: Fit for Royalty

Written by: || Tags:
The rainbow puffle has made its way onto the Club Penguin blog for a new Puffle Spotlight. Megg talks about how our rare rumored rainbow roommate came out of nowhere and jumped from the shadows straight into our arms!

Hi penguins,

Today we're going to talk about the RED PUFFLE! And the ORANGE PUFFLE! And the YELLOW PUFFLE! AND THE GREEN....

Okay, you get the point. I'm talking about the puffle that has a TON OF COLORS!

THE RAINBOW PUFFLE!

PH found clues of this legendary creature when exploring ancient ruins. Painted on the walls were rainbow puffles!

In 2013, it was discovered these special pets live exactly where you'd expect: the clouds!

Many of them have been adopted since then. They've impressed us with their beautiful colors and rainbow farts ever since!

Okay, maybe impressed isn't the right word for rainbow farts.

Club Penguin Operation Tri-Umph 2016 Guide (Phase III)

Written by: || Tags:
Phase the third (and final) of Club Penguin's Operation Tri-Umph has been launched. Last week, Herbert SHRUNK the Island, and while that was fun and all, this week he's back for more.

Today we actually get to complete a task instead of just experiencing the party. Well, fancy that! I will be showing around the party, and how to complete the maze challenge. To be honest, the 'hideout' Herbert has in the maze is quite visible and easy-to-access. Perhaps he should purchase some structured settlements.

Warning: If you have not seen last week's post, Phase II, it is advised that you do in order to follow the plot.

Log on to Club Penguin, first of all. Herbert P Bear will appear.

MWAHAHAHA! The uncolorizer ray is ready! Penguins won't want to stay on a colorless island!

Rookie responds to Herbert, saying:

Whoa now, Herbert! You've done some evil stuff. But don't mess with our pizza!

Rookie knows where it's at.

Blog: Orange You Glad We Didn't Say Box Dimension?

Written by: || Tags:
Megg has created a new blog entry on the official Club Penguin 'What's New' blog, entitled "Orange You Glad We Didn't Say Box Dimension?" (nice pun, Megg!) in which she talks about the zaniest puffle of all... the orange puffle!

She talks about the Box Dimension too, which is the home of the orange puffle. If you've ever been to the Box Dimension, you'll know that it's an interesting place full of interesting things.

Have a read of the post below, and let me know what you think in the comments.

Hello penguins,

What's the ZANIEST puffle of all?

The ORANGE PUFFLE!!

These are high energy puffles who can dominate a hula-hoop contest... even though they eat the hula-hoop afterwards! If you can keep up with their rocket-powered wagon, you'll have a ton of fun!

Orange puffles really love the Box Dimension and are right at home in it. Some penguins say they've seen them enter the Box Dimension WITHOUT A BOX! Is that even possible?!

What do you guys think? Is there a strange connection between orange puffles and the box dimension?

Let me know in the comments below.

Club Penguin Blog: Puffle Spotlight: Artistically Amazing

Written by: || Tags:
The second instalment of Megg's Puffle Spotlight on the Club Penguin blog has been released. Today's puffle is the yellow puffle! Have a read of it below:

Hi penguins!

Do have an artsy side? Do you LOVE to draw or paint? Is your phone always ready to snap that perfect picture? If yes, you are SOOO yellow puffle!

Yellow puffles are creative geniuses! They're a huge part of the art culture on Club Penguin. In fact, some of the paintings you see around the island are made by yellow puffles.

You know the picture of the green penguin in the Clothes Shop? That looks to me like yellow puffle art.

Some say they've hidden masterpieces to be discovered later. Wow, I'd love to find some of those!

How are YOU like a yellow puffle? Let me know in the comments.

Club Penguin Blog: Puffle Spotlight: Kickin' it Primary

Written by: || Tags:
For the build-up to Club Penguin's 2016 Puffle Party, blog writer Megg is featuring all of the Island's greatest puffles with her new Puffle Spotlight series.

The first puffle she is putting in the spotlight is the red puffle! If you want to learn more about this creatively cool creature, you can take a look at her blog entry below.

Hi penguins!

You'll be red in the face if you can't guess which puffle we're rolling out the red carpet for. I'll give you a hint: This puffle is a daredevil with red-hot surf moves!

Okay, you caught me red-handed: we're celebrating the red puffle!

This extreme puffle arrived on Club Penguin in 2006. But the coolest part? They came from ROCKHOPPER ISLAND!

No wonder Yarr and Rockhopper are so close. They're both intrepid pirates!

What's your favorite thing about red puffles? Let me know in the comments below.

P.S. The title is referring to the fact that red is a primary color. The more you know right? ;)

Meeting Rookie on Club Penguin - February 2016

Written by: || Tags:

Hello everyone. Rookie is visiting the Club Penguin Island over the next few weeks to help celebrate newest operation, Operation: Tri-Umph. At the time of me posting this, 3 meet-ups have already been conducted, with a further 11 to go... and that is just part 1!

If you are looking to meet Rookie over the next few weeks, view: Club Penguin Rookie Meet-Up Times 2016 (Part 1)

I met him yesterday, February 18 on Fog at 3PM PST. It was a blast! I managed to stay for a while to see what he had to say. It was a fun time hanging out and having fun.

Rookie arrived bang on time, at 3:00PM. Here he is, being greeted by everyone. Notice the huge crowd forming around him, making it impossible for him to be seen at this point.

As you can see, he is in the room, as I clicked on his playercard to pick up his giveaway background: Rookie's Giveaway 2016.

Blog: Herbert Has Shrunk the Penguins!

Written by: || Tags:

Megg's newest post on the Club Penguin What's New blog informs us all of what we are unfortunately already aware of... Herbert has shrunk us all. Megg says she was visiting the Town when suddenly she heard a zap, and sure enough she was hit by the shrink ray. She mentions her struggles being small and concludes that it may not be a bad thing after all, as we can cram more penguins on the dance floor! Interesting point of view, I must say.

Club Penguin Puffle Party Coming March 2016 + 41 Puffles

Written by: || Tags:

A new announcement has just been made on the Club Penguin official What's New blog, revealing that Club Penguin's annual Puffle Party is returning in March 2016! Woo-hoo! Here's the statement made by Megg:

AMAZING news, penguins!

The PUFFLE PARTY is coming and it's PACKED with puffles! 41 of them!

So guess what? We'll be featuring ALL OF THEM on the blog, starting with the BLUE PUFFLE!

The blue puffle is old school cool. They were seen way back in 2005! They are really loyal to friends.

One of the strangest rumors about the blue puffle is that they have secret superpowers.

Could that be true? Or maybe someone actually saw a blue crystal puffle flying?

What do you guys think? I'd love to hear all your blue puffle thoughts in the comments!

Club Penguin Operation Tri-Umph 2016 Guide (Phase II)

Written by: || Tags:
Phase the second of Operation Tri-Umph has been launched on the Club Penguin Island. Last week, Herbert's Shrink Ray of Doom was placed in the Snow Forts and everyone was clueless. Well, if you log in today, you'll notice that it had a purpose. Yes, a very malicious purpose.

Herbert is SHRINKING Club Penguin! When you log on, Herbert's dialogue will enter your screen.

MWAHAHAHA! The shrink ray is ready! You penguins will be too small to stop me!

What? Rookie was shrunk by Herbert! Oh no.

Oh hey! I'm Tiny Rookie! Well, actually I'm Regular Rookie, but Herbert shrunk me down.

It's not so bad. When life hands you tiny lemons, make a tiny bit of lemonade, right?

My Top Penguin Style Clothing Catalogue Issues

Written by: || Tags:

On the first Wednesday of every month on Club Penguin, a new clothing catalogue is released at the Clothes Shop.

It helps all the penguins of the Island discover new and exciting outfits that fit the respective month. It allows more diversity and creativity to the way a penguin can express themselves in game. Most items in the catalogues nowadays are for members, with only 1 or 2 pages introducing items for free accounts.

Club Penguin scrapped the idea of using SWFs for the catalogues when the July 2015 issue was launched, switching to an image-based catalogue. This allows less bandwidth to be used in the game to accommodate a faster loading speed.

However, this had a negative response in the community. Many penguins were upset because this meant that the traditional ‘secret items’ feature was removed, meaning the monthly hidden Blue, Red and Golden Viking helmets now became unavailable through their original means and made the catalogue a lot more bland, removing the element of surprise and excitement every month.

However, the Penguin Style catalogues are still intrinsically important to the game to this day. Which is why today, I would like to count down my top favourite issues of the Penguin Style clothing catalogues, and why! Let us begin.

Club Penguin Operation Tri-Umph 2016 Guide (Phase I)

Written by: || Tags:
If you logged on to Club Penguin between Wednesday 10th February and today, you would've seen that the first phase of 'Operation Tri-Umph' has been launched. Upon logging in, you will be transported to the Snow Forts, that Herbert has decked out with lights and music, to disguise his plans to take over the island.

Both the Club Penguin Team and mascots are oblivious to his true intent.

MWAHAHAHAHA! My ultimate laser is ready!

By laser, Herbert is referring to the SHRINK RAY OF DOOM, which -- spoilers! -- will be used to shrink Club Penguin!

First I will blast those puny Snow Forts. Then... EVERYTHING ELSE!

Important: The Penguin of the Week Rules Have Updated

Written by: || Tags:
The rules for the Penguin of the Week (POTW, PoTW) nominations have been updated and published on the blog in this week's Penguin of the Week winner post.

Megg, stating that Penguin of the Week was 'created to celebrate so many amazing members of our community,' adds that she wanted to 'give you some behind-the-scenes info about the process.'

She has made five simple points that you should consider when entering in someone for POTW. These rules are:

1. Any penguin (members and free players) nominated can win as long as they don't have negative history on their accounts.
2. The team looks at the penguin overall, not just how many people have nominated them.
3. Penguins can only win PoTW once, so more of our amazing players have a chance to win.
4. We can only choose one penguin per week, so if you don't win, try again!
5. Club Penguin seriously has the best community in the world. So after someone wins, we love seeing the supportive, positive emails you send. Keep it up.

So make sure whomever you're entering hasn't been banned before, and generally has a clean record. Also make sure to keep entering them if they don't win -- the continued support is necessary for the selection process. Thanks for reading.

Club Penguin History - Valentine's Day Celebration 2006

Written by: || Tags:

Valentine's Day falls on February 14th every year. It's about celebrating a day of love with your partner, buying them presents and generally acknowledging their romantic presence in your life.

Since Club Penguin host parties and events for most other widely celebrated days of the year -- Halloween, the Holidays and (up until 2013) Easter -- it begs the question, do they ever celebrate Valentine's Day?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: They did. Once.

Today, I will be telling you about the first and last time Club Penguin celebrated Valentine's Day. If you follow me on Twitter, chances are you've seen this tweet that I posted today:

But let's dig a little deeper than a simple screenshot. What exactly was the celebration like and why did it stop? Welcome to the eighth instalment of Club Penguin History.

It is speculated that Club Penguin held their "Valentine's Day Celebration" for one day only on February 14th, 2006, but a few other sources claim it was held from the 13th through to the 15th. As there is such little information known about the event as it was not officially a party, rather a small occasion.

Where did it all begin?
On Thursday, February 9th, 2006, Billybob, the now-retired owner of Club penguin made a post on the What's New blog entitled "More Updates Coming!" in which he revealed some information about new features that would be making an appearance in the coming weeks. At the bottom of the post, he mentioned that a Valentine's Day occasion will be happening, stating the following:

We will have some special decorations up for valentines day, but it won't be an official party like the luau. We decided to spend more time on all this other stuff instead so we hope you understand.

This confirms that the idea for the celebration was pre-conceived, but was not an actual party like the Winter Luau (as per Billybob's example), which is why it is not mentioned in the 2005-2006 Yearbook.

What was it like?
The Coffee Shop, Night Club and Town were decorated with pink balloons and a "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY" on the Coffee Shop window.

It was previously rumoured that two free items were given out during the Valentine's celebration: the Red Sunglasses and Black Bowtie - but this was proven to be false, despite stating that they were given out in the The Ultimate Guide to Club Penguin Volume 1... strange. In an email sent to Club Penguin Support querying about the party, more specifically the items, they responded with:

Please know that seeing how this was a short and small party, no free items were given away.

It was held in the Night Club, Town and Coffee Shop but the only remaining images are from the Night Club. Here is an image taken in the Night Club from an old Club Penguin blogger, sporting the Black Toque, Black Sunglasses and Bowtie, and standing next to the Penguin Band whilst they were playing:

In 2014, Polo Field, during a "Field Friday" event, brought back the party, by reallocating the room SWF to change it to that of the Valentine's Celebration in 2006:

Here is a GIF of what the Penguin Band's performance would've looked like:

I think it looks amazing, I would've loved to have been there when it happened. They were the only "mascots" to appear there, however they were not actually there; they were simply SWF animations and did not have any player cards/avatars yet.

What happened next?
Well, no one is certain why Club Penguin stopped celebrating Valentine's Day on the Island. Some sources claim it is due to it being for only one day, and not worth the effort for such a short amount of time, while others claim it is due to a significant number of players appearing to not celebrate it (take into account the average player age).

As I mentioned earlier, it is not currently classed in the 2005-2006 Yearbook and little is said about it nowadays. Much like the Winter Luau 2006, it is a party/event that only ever appeared once on Club Penguin.

Maybe Club Penguin will bring this event back in the future, who knows? For now, that remains a mystery, along with the true purpose behind the celebration.

Thank you for reading.

Yes, it's true. Head on over to the Snow Forts to experience Herbert's wonderful celebration. Megg says we should thank Herbert if we see him around. Wow, what a swell dude!

Club Penguin Mobile App Update – 1.6.15

Written by: || Tags:
The Club Penguin App (formerly called My Penguin) has updated to its most recent version: version 1.6.15, for all mobile devices that the application is available on. They have updated it for Operation DOOM that will be releasing February 11, 2016. If you have iOS 7 or Android 4.0.3 (or later) you can download it.

The updates include the Operation DOOM event, taking place from February 11 - March 2.

Here is the icon for the app. It is an EPF agent, the same icon that Club Penguin used for their 1.6.12 update.

Here is the description of the iTunes store description:

"MWAHAHAHA! OPERATION DOOM is Feb. 11-Mar. 2."

Club Penguin's "MWAHAHA" Login Screen Now Up

Written by: || Tags:
This is a follow-up to my previous post, Club Penguin Login Screen Broken - Bug.

Club Penguin have update their login screen billboard. It is an advertisement for their February party, or should I say operation.

It is a sinister close-up of Herbert P Bear's face, tinted red from what I can only imagine is the flashing beam of bright alarm bells, with a visualised "MWAHAHA...AHAHA...HAHA" dotted randomly in the background. It then slaps a FEB. 11–MAR. 2 at the bottom, symbolising the start and end date of this event.

If you read my previous post, you would know that I theorised it was in preparation for Operation: DOOM. What do you think?

Club Penguin Login Screen Broken - Bug (Update: Fixed)

Written by: || Tags:
The billboard on Club Penguin's login screen is currently broken. Instead of showing the image that is meant to be there before logging in, it simply displays the broken image icon, revealing the blue background behind it. I must say, the login screen without the billboard looks painfully bare.

I went ahead and found out what is meant to be there, and it's an image file called "mwahaha." The file simply does not exist, it has yet to be uploaded. But from the text below, the "mwahaha" and the "February-Party" I think we can guess it's going to be a billboard advertising Herbert/Operation: DOOM.

"Hi Megg! I would like to nominate Brisingr11 for Penguin Of The Week, BUT WHERE TO START!? He is just the best guy I've ever met! He is a great friend, and his igloos...AWESOME! He and I met in the Clothes Shop and I thought he was so cool. I'd really be happy if he won!"

PSA: Safer Internet Day 2016

Written by: || Tags:

Today is Safer Internet Day 2016. Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people across the world.

Club Penguin, being an online virtual world for kids, must use extreme measures to make sure everyone accessing the site is safe. They launched their safety campaign 'It Starts With You!' in February 2014, and it provides safety tips for kids and parents to help understand more and how to take special precautions.

Club Penguin have three general rules for their users regarding staying safe online:

BE COOL. Treat people the way you want to be treated online.
BE HEARD. Tell your parents or someone you trust if you see anything online that bothers you.
BE SAFE. Keep your name, age, address, phone number and school top secret.

View their Online Safety page for more information.

How can 'I' be safe online?
Don't share any personal information online. This includes your address, full name, phone number or school name.

Think before you act. Before you post something online. ask yourself if you are 100% sure it is okay. Once you post something on the Internet, it's public domain, which means you have no control over it and anyone can see it and save it. Check with your parents if you are not sure.

Keep your privacy settings top-notch. Make sure any online accounts are safe and secured, so only your friends and the people you trust can view your information.

Never give out your password. Keeping your password to yourself is the key to staying safe online. Sharing your password with anyone but your parents can lead to dangerous consequences.

Don't talk to strangers. Just like in real life, in the online world, talking to people you don't know is very dangerous and can end you up in a bad situation. Make sure you're only connected to those you trust and know in real life.

If you see something that makes you uncomfortable or upset, turn your computer off and tell your parents or guardian(s) immediately.

How can I get involved?
StaySafeOnline.org have some great tips on how to stay safe online and make sure you don't run into trouble. They also have great resources for spreading awareness.

I hope you use these tips and stay safe online! If you are a parent reading this blog, feel free to show your child(ren) how to be 100% safe while using the Internet under your guard.

Club Penguin Blog: A Mysterious Message

Written by: || Tags:

Hello everyone. Some weird news today. Megg received an threatening email from a strange user, by the name of HPB_Mastermind. It seems familiar, but I just can't put my finger on it.

She notes that she doesn't think it was meant for her. Take a read below of what the message said:

From: HPB_Mastermind

Date: Wed, Jan 6, 2016 at 10:50 PM (Update to relevant time)

Subject: Preparations nearly complete (MWAHAHA)

Soon those penguins will realize what a true genius I am!

None of them can stop me. Not the Extremely Pesky Fools. Not even... hmm, what are their names, again? Ricky? Spot? Blockstopper?

Bah, who cares what their names are! I'll be blasting them soon.

MWAHAHAHA!

This calls for a celebration, Klutzy. Get me some vegetarian pizza! And DON'T touch it.

Kindest regards,

H.P.B.

P.S. Do we have any anti-fungal cream? My feet are somewhat... smelly.

Sent from my icePhone

I believe the date is supposed to say February 6th, maybe she got that wrong when she was typing it out. Anyway, notice how it says "icePhone"... odd.

What do you think this means? Tell me in the comments.
